CARDIAC ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY
What Is Cardiac Echocardiography
Cardiac echo has become routinely used in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with any suspected or known heart disease.
It is one of the most widely used diagnostic tests in Cardiology. Echo is used to diagnose and monitor conditions such as heart failure, wall motion abnormalities, cardiomyopathies, heart valve disease, prosthetic valves, post TAVR, post ASD closures, post MitraClips, congenital heart disease, and other structural abnormalities of the heart. We routinely use Definity contrast on some of our studies to further improve the quality of the image and create a sharper picture of the heart. Stress echocardiograms are another area we cover for our patients experiencing chest pain.
